
Last week, first grade astronomers at both Clinton Elementary School and Slaughter Elementary School took their learning outside as they made observations about different sources of light and objects in the sky. This unit on astronomy is part of our Amplify science curriculum.

We are so thankful for our administrative professionals! Today we celebrated Administrative Professionals Day by treating these outstanding team members to lunch at the Iron Horse in Jackson.



In partnership with the LSU AgCenter, the Louisiana College of Agriculture, and
Louisiana 4-H, students at Jackson Elementary School had the opportunity last month to visit the Parker Coliseum on the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge to participate in AgMagic. This interactive, visually stimulating educational journey through Louisiana agriculture allows students to see, explore, and learn about agriculture and the environment as well as the important role each plays in our daily lives.




CES Pre-K students are participating in a thematic learning unit - "Creative Me"! Last week, they learned how to become an artist. A book titled The Dot taught them that even if you don’t think you can do something, you should try anyway - even if it’s starting off with a dot!



Financial Literacy at JES: Pelican State Credit Union visited Jackson Elementary School to teach a financial literacy class to 4th grade students. Building community partnerships is a priority of East Feliciana Public Schools' strategic plan.

Special Visitors at JES: Mrs. Freeman brought some baby chicks to Jackson Elementary School for part of an interactive and multidisciplinary science and social studies lesson - the students loved meeting them!




School Snapshot: Students at EF STEAM conducted a gallery walk to identify the embryological similarities between animal species.


At the April meeting of the East Feliciana Parish School Board, we presented the SES instructional leadership team with a banner to celebrate the school's achievement as just one of five schools nationwide to be recognized as an NIET Founder's Award finalist.


Last month, the JES PBIS team hosted a "March Madness" teacher & student basketball game to celebrate great behavior. Special thanks to EFHS athletic director Cedric Anderson for arranging use of the EFHS gym & to members of the EFHS boys' basketball team for refereeing the game!


A CES 1st grader leads learning during the Core Knowledge language arts lesson in Ms. Wilkerson's class. She read the story aloud while asking questions about the story to her classmates. Giving students individualized opportunities is a priority of our strategic plan!


5th grade students from CES, JES, & SES visited the East Feliciana STEAM Academy to learn more about the program from EF STEAM's Founding Students and participate in a STEM learning experience. Applications for 6th & 7th graders for 2023-24 are open at bit.ly/efsteam23





The Louisiana Comeback Campus initiative from the Louisiana Department of Education recognizes schools who have improved their performance in math and/or English language arts from 2019 to 2022. Schools recognized are those who have decreased their rate of students scoring unsatisfactory on state assessments and increased their rate of students scoring mastery and above. We are proud to recognize Clinton Elementary School for earning this designation for English language arts and Jackson Elementary School and Slaughter Community Charter School for earning this designation for math.




Students enrolled in woodshop and workplace safety courses at East Feliciana High School have been building picnic tables. Students in both career & tech education courses and university pathway courses at EFHS have a variety of applied learning opportunities to develop skills.
