PASSING THE BATON AT JES: Students in Coach Houtz’s physical education classes at Jackson Elementary School practiced their track skills passing a baton while running relays. Students were demonstrating various locomotor skills such as skip, gallop, speed walk, and run relays.
Building Campus Connections at ECA: Students enrolled at the Early College Academy at East Feliciana High School are dually enrolled at Baton Rouge Community College. They recently visited BRCC to tour the facilities and learn about the amenities available to them as new college students.
Pre-K students at Slaughter Elementary School explored several different emotions and how people might express them!
Earlier this month, we celebrated East Feliciana STEAM Academy as our inaugural Campus of the Month! The school received a traveling banner, staff and volunteers received a special lunch, and students and staff received a special sno ball treat! Earlier this month, our East Feliciana High School band made their debut with their classmates at a pep rally ahead of the football team's victory against Kentwood!
SPOTLIGHT ON CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION AT EFHS: East Feliciana High School and Cajun Industries are pleased to announce their partnership in conjunction with Associated Builders and Contractors. This collaboration will afford students the chance to shadow, tour, and gain practical experience in the workforce. Through this partnership with the carpentry program, instructed by Tyrese Chambers, students will be able to demonstrate their talents and obtain employment following graduation.
Science and Literacy Connections at JES: Ms. Griffith’s 4th grade scientists at Jackson Elementary School integrated literacy with science in their Energy Conversions Unit. They worked collaboratively to make a poster sharing the definition, examples, pictures and facts about their assigned form of energy.

Our 7th grade scholars at East Feliciana STEAM Academy put their critical thinking skills to the test by investigating how the lid of a cup system works as a structural feature to slow down the temperature change of a substance inside. This hands-on exploration allowed students to connect structure to function while deepening their understanding of real-world science applications.

LEARNING IN FOCUS: At each of our schools, every student has time built into their schedule for individual and small group learning support in English language arts and mathematics that is aligned to their individual needs. During weekly professional collaboration, teachers meet with each other to examine how their students are performing on their lessons and make plans to support students on topics and skills that they need more help with.
