The East Feliciana High School cheerleaders hosted “Big Sis Lil’ Sis” cheer camp this week to teach elementary students the basics of cheerleading. The girls all performed together at the EFHS football game on Thursday!

Students at EFMS learned about density and buoyancy in their Intro to STEM Pathways & Careers class. How many pennies can you get in the boat before it sinks? Students made predictions about the outcome and worked together to make a plan on how to get more pennies in their boat.
4-H Cloverbuds and other members are participating in a lesson series about pollinators this year. At this month’s session, they learned about bees. Ms. Kayla brought her beekeeping equipment and students were able to try on bee suits and learn how beekeepers, including locally, use their equipment to harvest honey. NOVEL STUDIES AT CES: Students in Mrs. Corey’s fourth grade English language arts class at Clinton Elementary practiced annotating text as a strategy for engaging with books as part of their Guidebooks novel study of 'The Whipping Boy.'
The environmental protection & sustainability class at EFHS is investigating where and how we are losing soil at different locations on campus. EFHS is one of the first schools statewide to pilot this class, which will ultimately lead to a complete high school pathway.
Last month, EF STEAM students held a mini spa day for their chickens. They hypothesized that some of the chickens were egg-bound because they weren’t finding as many eggs, so they let the chickens soak in warm water and epsom salt to help them release any lodged eggs. Later they discovered the chickens had found another location to lay eggs!
DEMOCRACY IN ACTION AT EFMS: To practice public speaking and engage with the democratic process, students at East Feliciana Middle School prepared and listened to speeches before casting their votes for the 2023 EFMS Homecoming Court.
LEARNING THROUGH THE ARTS: Ms. Turner’s ESS class at Jackson Elementary School read The Three Little Pigs in their leveled readers, performed the story as a play for Mrs. Bell’s pre-K class, and gathered materials outside to make the three pigs’ houses.
Making Waves with Science at SES: Students in Mrs. McCurley and Mrs. Forbes’ Pre-K class at Slaughter Elementary School make careful observations during a science experiment.
Kindergarten students in our schools are learning about the five senses during their Core Knowledge Language Arts lessons. Students at Clinton Elementary School used some of those five senses on a nature walk around campus last week.
Eligible EFHS students were able to register to vote thanks to a visit from the East Feliciana Registrar of Voters. Voter Registration Week is the last week of August. Developing partnerships for our students to engage in their community is a priority of our strategic plan.
