Congratulations to our March Employee of the Month, East Feliciana Enrichment Academy's Susan Louque! She exemplifies dedication to her students. Teaching grades 6th through 12th grade (and occasionally 4th and 5th grade!), she maintains consistent class instruction regardless of whether she is teaching one student or twenty-five. Her practices align with the Louisiana Educator Rubric and promote student engagement. Her commitment to the district’s mission of Excellence, Every Day, along with her kindness and collaborative spirit, make this recognition well-deserved.

Congratulations to our March Students of the Month! We recognized them this evening at the monthly meeting of the East Feliciana Parish School Board with the Go the Distance Award, celebrating each of them for staying committed from start to finish with excellence!

February 15 is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! We extend special thanks to our School Resource Officers. We are grateful to our local law enforcement agencies for sharing in our commitment to safe and empowered students!

Out of an abundance of caution, Monday, January 26 will be a distance learning day for East Feliciana Public Schools. The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Students should plan to complete the first day of assignments from the distance learning packets they received on Friday. Based on guidance from meteorologists and parish emergency management officials and due to the potential for hazardous winter weather conditions, all East Feliciana Public Schools and offices will be closed on Monday, January 26. Throughout this weather event, we will continue to provide you with updates via JCampus. Please stay safe and warm!
We are proud to announce that Karen Dunn-Sims of East Feliciana High School is East Feliciana Public Schools' District Outstanding School Support Employee of the Year! What sets her apart is her spirit of service and her investment in meaningful community outreach. Her leadership efforts in nursing home visits and supply drives teach our students the value of compassion and civic responsibility. Thank you for embodying Excellence, Every Day!

Congratulations to our January Students of the Month, who were recognized with the Civic Star Award! These students serve as role models of respectful behavior, fairness, and leadership.

In East Feliciana Public Schools, we are grateful for all of our school support employees who embody excellence every day. In celebration of their positive contributions to our schools and our communities, take a minute to join us in giving this year's Outstanding School Support Employees a round of applause!

ART EDUCATION IN EAST FELICIANA PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Pre-K students at Slaughter Elementary School painted salt snowflakes to ring in the winter season! Last week, our fabulous Child Nutrition Program team prepared a delicious Christmas dinner including oven-baked turkey roast, gravy, rice dressing, whole baked sweet potatoes, seasoned lima beans, and fresh fruit salad. Take a look at some family memories in the making from Slaughter Elementary School during this special meal.

LITERACY NIGHT AT JES: Earlier this month, Jackson Elementary School hosted a family literacy night. The event was an opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, share fun literacy games and activities, and connect families with resources they can use to help their children grow as strong and fluent readers. Engaged families and community is a key priority of our strategic plan, and we are grateful to our families for their consistent and ongoing partnership in raising up readers!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Ms. Sherry Smith, retired East Feliciana teacher, is sharing her wealth of phonics and phonemic awareness knowledge by volunteering weekly in the Jackson Elementary School kindergarten classes. We are very appreciative of everything she is doing to help our youngest learners have a solid literacy foundation! Engaging our community is a key priority of East Feliciana Public Schools' strategic plan, and we are so grateful for our community's consistent support of our students!

WE'RE BOWLED OVER BY YOUR SUCCESS: Join us in celebrating our students who recently competed in the Special Olympics bowling competition!

A Heart for Learning at EFMS: Jada Profit completes step ups to record her pulse during a lesson on the body systems in 7th grade science. Learning at the Star Academy at East Feliciana Middle Schools provides students with hands-on opportunities to explore a variety of 21st century careers.

Small group learning and intervention is a key part of the school day across East Feliciana Public Schools! Jackson Elementary School students are learning key literacy skills through small group instruction with the Phonics for Literacy program. Check out Ms. Armstead, ESS Resource paraprofessional, working with one of her small reading groups.

As part of PBIS activities last month, classroom teams at East Feliciana Middle School collaborated to create holiday appreciation baskets for our child nutrition team! The purpose of our PBIS programs is to develop, encourage, and celebrate great classroom and school citizenship.

EAT, MOVE, GROW AT SES: Student at Slaughter Elementary School taste tested edamame and participated in exercise games through EatMoveGrow, a program designed to help everyone live a healthier life.
