AG MAGIC: Jackson Elementary School second graders and the Cloverbuds 4-H club visited LSU for the annual AgMagic event at the Parker Coliseum. They participated in hands-on learning about Louisiana agriculture, livestock, and the environment.
Shining a Light on Financial Literacy at EFHS: Students in Ms. Ferguson’s class at East Feliciana High School participated in a presentation on financial literacy from Pelican State Credit Union that included simulations and scenarios.
PREPARING FOR LEAP AT EFMS: Students at East Feliciana Feliciana Middle School have been participating in a subject-area boot camps to review key state
standards before the upcoming state assessment!
COLLABORATION IS KEY AT EFEA: Students at East Feliciana Enrichment Academy worked in partnership during science class to arrange evidence related to chemical reactions.
HAVING A BOWL IN PE AT JES: In Coach Houtz’s health and physical education class at Jackson Elementary School, students are exposed to a variety of sports and activities that can be a part of their lifetime fitness and wellness journey! Students are currently learning bowling skills using a curriculum and materials provided by a grant from the United States Bowling Congress.
LEADERSHIP THROUGH SERVICE AT SES: At this month’s meeting of the Slaughter Elementary School Beta Club, students built a community library for the campus!
MAKING A CLAIM AT EF STEAM: Sixth grade English language arts students at the East Feliciana STEAM Academy read about three different activists that fought for equal education rights, fair immigration laws, and ending child labor. They presented arguments on who they believe made the biggest impact on those around them. They formed claims stating what risks the person they chose took and supported their claim with evidence from the text. Writing and sharing evidence-based arguments is a key standard in middle grades English language arts classrooms.
Congratulations to Ms. Sandra Kelly with the East Feliciana Public Schools Transportation Department, who was named as Region 2 Chair of the Louisiana Association of School Transportation Officials! We are proud to celebrate Ms. Kelly for her commitment to being a leader not just for our district, but for the entire state!
CELEBRATING MATH EXCELLENCE AT CES: Congratulations to these Clinton Elementary School students who scored 100% on their last topic quiz in math! Across math classrooms in each of our schools, students are taking high-quality assessments aligned to state standards, and teachers are responding to the results of these assessments to meet student needs.
SPOTLIGHT ON JES LITERACY NIGHT: Jackson Elementary School hosted a very successful Literacy Night in partnership with the Center for Literacy and Learning! Over 110 students and their parents joined for this fun event. Parents attended a presentation about their child’s DIBELS reading scores and how to support literacy at home while students participated in fun literacy activities with JES teachers. After the presentation, CLL also provided free books for all of the students and center activities for families to enjoy together.
SLAUGHTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BOBCAT RUN: Fitness was fun as SES students participated in an obstacle course, foam pit, and slip ‘n slime, and even got to slime Principal Thornton at their inaugural Bobcat Run!
HEART HEALTHY AT EF STEAM: Students at East Feliciana STEAM Academy have been practicing skipping rope! Skipping rope improves cardiovascular health, bone health by building bone density, agility, motor skills, balance, social interaction, coordination, rhythm, teamwork, and cooperation; and it enhances problem solving as students identify and overcome challenges they face while learning new skipping patterns and tricks, boosting their self-confidence and motivation as they master the skills.
CELEBRATING THE PATH TO GRADUATION AT EFHS: The East Feliciana High School Class of 2026 hosted family and friends for their Junior Class Ring Ceremony. The ceremony is an important milestone on the path to graduation: a celebration of students’ academic achievements up to this moment and a recognition of the work ahead next school year.
READING ACROSS AMERICA AT CES: As part of Read Across America Week, 5th and 6th grade students at Clinton Elementary School read Dr. Seuss stories to Pre-K-2nd grade students and engaged them with activities based on the stories.

Exciting Grant Award to Enhance School Breakfast!
We are thrilled to announce that the Child Nutrition Program has been awarded a $10,000 grant from No Kid Hungry to support exciting new breakfast initiatives at our schools!
Starting next school year, we will implement:
✅ A coffee bar at the high school to provide students with a popular
and appealing breakfast option.
✅ Nutritious smoothies as an alternative breakfast choice.
✅ Expanded fruit offerings across all schools, including quarterly features of exotic fruits such as papaya, mango, and dragon fruit at breakfast!
These enhancements aim to increase student participation, improve nutrition, and support academic success by making breakfast more engaging and enjoyable. Stay tuned for more details as we roll out these initiatives!
We are so proud and excited to announce that Mrs. Kimberly Glascock, principal of East Feliciana STEAM Academy, has been named by the Louisiana Department of Education as a Louisiana Principal of the Year semifinalist! As founding principal of EF STEAM, Mrs. Glascock, her team, and her founding students have established a tradition of excellence and opportunity that will benefit our community for years to come!
PEER READING AT EFMS AND SES: Mrs. Leger’s kindergarten students at Slaughter Elementary School and Mrs. Franklin’s IBCA students at East Feliciana Middle School worked in small groups and pairs to read aloud texts to each other. Intentional peer-to-peer collaboration is a key component to literacy learning across grade levels in East Feliciana Public Schools.
