FAMILY CONNECTIONS AT CES: A Clinton Elementary School parent volunteered his time to read Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogie to Pre-K students. He brought pizza, a lot of energy, and helpful information on how to face challenges.
Service Learning at EFHS: The East Feliciana High School carpentry class used their drill skills to hang new white boards in their classmates’ STEM pathways classrooms.
SPOTLIGHT ON MATH AT EFEA: Ms. Kelly’s mathematics class at the East Feliciana Enrichment Academy includes students in multiple grade levels who use Khan Academy, Zearn, and Edulastic to support their math learning.
SPOTLIGHT ON SOCIAL STUDIES: Sixth grade students at Slaughter Elementary School learned about the thirteen colonies by making posters describing their characteristics.
ENRICHING OPPORTUNITIES WITH EF ACCELERATE: The afterschool Cultural Immersion Club at EF STEAM was able to have a meal exploring Chinese cuisine, and afterschool art students at Clinton Elementary School used principles of design to build gingerbread houses.
6th grade students at EF STEAM created bouncy balls and learned about forces including gravity during their Step Into STEM exploratory class offered in partnership with LSU. We offer STEM Pathways courses at EF STEAM, East Feliciana Middle School, and East Feliciana High School.

SERVING THE COMMUNITY AT JES: Jackson Elementary students brought a total of 1,091 items during their annual Holiday Food Drive, beating their school goal and earning a Free Dress Day for the whole school. Mrs. Johnson’s class won the class competition with 267 items and earned a pizza party! All items will be donated to the Helping in His Name Food Bank in Jackson.
MENTORSHIP IN ACTION: Earlier this semester, the male faculty members at Clinton Elementary School hosted a Black & White Lunch for 3rd-6th grade boys to discuss the positive characteristics of young men and leaders and to try new foods including sushi!
Students enrolled in the Introduction to Engineering LSU STEM Pathways course at East Feliciana High School tested and rebuilt and improved their catapults. They constructed them to be able to launch a ping pong ball the maximum number of feet. They redesigned and improved at least three times and completed test trials as well. They also documented these improvements in their engineering notebook and lab reports along the way. Throughout the course, students develop their skills as designers, engineers, and problem solvers.
Last night at our monthly board meeting, we recognized Slaughter Community Charter School and Clinton Elementary School as Top Gains Honorees! We also recognized SCCS for their overall "A" letter grade and CES for their "A" progress grade in the state's accountability system.

The Positive Behavior Intervention and Support at JES hosted a Glow Party last month to celebrate great behavior and citizenship during the month of October. Special thanks to EFHS for hosting, Coach Anderson for assisting with setup, and Mr. Pullen for providing the music!
The men on the staff at Clinton Elementary School and members of the Clinton High School Alumni Association taught CES boys in grades 3-6 how to properly tie ties. The association even donated ties so that the young men can practice at home.
AGRICULTURE CONNECTIONS: Agriculture students at EFHS build additions for the school’s chicken run while EF STEAM students introduced meal worms into their routine to try to get the chickens to come when called.
SPARKING CREATIVITY AT SES: 5th grade students at Slaughter Elementary School brought literature to life by creating projects based on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Leaders of the IGNITE tutoring program from across the country visited Jackson Elementary School last month to see the school’s exemplary implementation of one-on one and small group literacy tutoring. Teachers and leaders at the school partner with college students across the country to provide a block of virtual literacy tutoring based on individual students’ needs. We are always excited to share with others about the great teaching and learning happening in our schools.
